STUMP REMOVAL

Stump removal is the process of completely removing the tree stump and roots from the ground after a tree has been cut down or has fallen. Removing the stump is often necessary for safety reasons and to prevent the stump from becoming a tripping hazard, obstructing new construction, or attracting pests.

Stump removal typically involves the use of a stump grinder, which is a specialized machine that grinds the stump and its roots into small wood chips. The grinder has a rotating cutting wheel that grinds the stump down to below ground level, allowing the remaining roots to decompose over time.

Before stump removal, it’s important to assess the location of the stump and the surrounding area for potential hazards, such as underground utility lines or nearby structures. The area should be marked off to ensure safe operation of the grinder.

After stump removal, the remaining wood chips can be left in place or removed entirely. If left in place, they can be used as mulch or left to decompose naturally.

Stump removal can be a hazardous process and should only be attempted by professionals with the necessary training and equipment to complete the job safely. It’s also important to note that the cost of stump removal can vary depending on the size of the stump and the complexity of the job.
